ABSTRACT

The Faou Formation (Pragian-Lower Emsian) was deposited in an upper offshore open shelf environment. Three types of deposits have been recognised on a proximaldistal transect representing respectively a proximal, a median and a distal upper offshore environments. Faunal assemblages have been identified along the section and are closely related to the types of deposits. From the distal to the proximal zone, we identified an Uncinulus Community, a Cyrtina-Rhynchonelloids Association, a XanaVandercammenina Community, an undifferentiated Orthid-Spiriferid-Terebratulid Association (OST), a Chonetoid Association, an Orthoid Association and a Terebratuloid Community.
