ABSTRACT

This chapter will examine some practical issues that relate to providing services for drug users in a community pharmacy setting. In providing services, pharmacists may on occasions, find themselves in positions where they are either having to deal with a difficult or threatening situation, or where they are faced with an ethical or professional dilemma. The latter are dealt with in Chapter 9, so in this chapter there will be a focus on more practical issues such as how to manage patient numbers, inappropriate requests for methadone supply and disruptive behaviour.
