ABSTRACT
Several species of Eucalyptus yield oils which are valuable in commerce. The oil glands are secreted deeply in the leaves, well below the epidermal cuticle and other cells which together form the surface layers of the foliage. These oils can be recovered from the herb by steam distillation and are then referred to as essential oils because, being the products of distillation they are, by definition, essences.
