ABSTRACT

Wireless ad hoc networks can be deployed in many settings such as environmental monitoring, disaster relief, and battlefield situations. In these settings, wireless devices such as sensors are often powered by an on-board battery. Many of these networks are expected to function for an extended period of time. To accomplish this without a renewable energy source, energy conservation is the key.
