ABSTRACT
Geographic information technology was first introduced to American Indian Tribes by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). The Geographic Data Service Center (GDSC) was established by the BIA in Lakewood, Colorado in 1990. The mission of the GDSC was to bring geospatial technology to tribal people and teach them how to use it themselves.
