The objectives of the chapter are to seek to answer the following questions:
■ What is safety culture, and how has the concept evolved? ■ Why is safety culture a crucial element of health and safety management? ■ How can organisations measure their safety culture, or at least its tangible
manifestations? ■ How can organisations plan and implement programmes to create and sustain
a positive safety culture?
