ABSTRACT
The Harvard group (Brain et al. (1976)) pioneered studies of pulmonary deposition with aerosols. Chan and Lippmann (1980) utilized both modeling and experiments to provide an insight into regional deposition. However, the most fruitful approach to using aerosols was to use breath-holding measurements. This procedure was developed by E.D. Palmes in 1967 and 1975.
