ABSTRACT

Long-term monitoring programs are essential to identify the rate and direction of environmental change in the Boreal Shield ecozone. Canada’s Ecological Monitoring and Assessment Network (EMAN; www.eman-rese.ca) currently provides a coordinating service to support data sharing, communication, and training in environmental and ecological monitoring and to assist in preparing state-of-the-resource assessment reports (e.g., Urquizo et al., 2000). Brief descriptions and maps of some of the key monitoring sites in the southern and southwestern Boreal Shield ecozone are given here. For more information on monitoring sites in the eastern part of the ecozone see, https://eqb-dqu.cciw.ca/ eman/network/borshque.htm.
