DEFINING THE ISSUES
Many people associate adaptive equipment with a mysterious territory of wheelchairs, hospitals, inability, and dependence. They may believe adaptive equipment is cumbersome, complex, expensive, and used only by people with disabilities. Such perceptions reinforce differences among people rather than similarities.
