ABSTRACT

The use of accelerated bridge construction (ABC) is becoming more critical, as many of the nation’s bridges approach the end of their service life and require replacement while maintaining traffic flow. Most states have built at least one bridge with some aspect of ABC. Many states, however, remain unsure of the best ways to utilize these streamlined technologies and would like to know how other states have achieved successful ABC implementation. To assist the states, the ABC University Transportation Center (ABC-UTC) at Florida International University has imported the Federal Highway Administration’s ABC project database and enhanced it to provide additional functionality and capacity including the incorporation of ABC research projects. This paper describes the ABC-UTC’s project and research databases and what they offer bridge professionals working to implement successful ABC projects.
