ABSTRACT
Since the original IBM Personal Computer™ was introduced in 1981, MS-DOS™ (PC-DOS™ on IBM systems) has become the dominant operating system for computers that use the Intel 8088, 80286, 80386, 80486, and Pentium™ chips. More microcomputers use DOS than any other operating system, and there are thousands of application packages that run under it.
