ABSTRACT

The Office of Drinking Water's (ODW's) Health Advisory (HA) Program provides information on health effects, analytical methodology and treatment technology that would be useful in dealing with the contamination of drinking water. Additionally, the user may contact an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regional Office as well as the ODW for further assistance. The ODW has entered into a joint venture with EPA's Office of Pesticide Programs to monitor those pesticides either known to have occurred in drinking water or are most likely to be found in groundwater. The development of an ODW HA document is a step-by-step process estimated to require approximately 12 months from the time of identification of the chemical to issuance of a final HA. An important element of the overall National Pesticide Survey is the development of HAs for all pesticides anticipated to be detected in water samples.
