ABSTRACT

Quality controls must be performed at each step of monoclonal antibody (MAb) production and purification. Agarose electrophoresis and immunoprecipitation tests are routinely performed to detect the contaminants possibly present in a purified antibody solution. When very pure antibody preparations are needed, the more sensitive Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and ELISA assays are also performed. Finally, comparison with native ascites or culture supernatants of known antibody content is useful for evaluating the degree of activity of the purified antibody.
