ABSTRACT

This chapter describes that the overall structure of a LUTI model, combining different transport and land use sub-models, as well as testing its goodness of fit to the data observed in the base year. Before being able to use a LUTI model for assessing policies and projects, its goodness of fit with the base year calibration data needs to be considered to make the results as comparable as possible with the current situation. The resulting LUTI model has been applied to a real case in order to simulate the effects of introducing a specific transport policy. A LUTI model that considers spatial dependence in the data will also be calibrated and its fit will be compared with that of the standard model. The LUTI model can also consider the presence of a constraint on the capacity of the zone in terms of accepting both population and economic activities.
