Mechanized tunneling technologies for weak rocks of Middle East, revisited.

This paper discusses the tunneling technology applicable to weak/soft rocks of Middle East with particular emphasis on Qatar. Qatar’s rapid expansion of infrastructure translated into significant growth in the tunneling industry. The authors will discuss common rock types of the region and rapid tunneling methodology available globally which is used to safely and economically excavate the tunnels.
