ABSTRACT

It has been demonstrated during the past 15 years that some tissues actively transport prostaglandins (PGs) and related autacoids and that these transport systems play a key role in the pharmacokinetics of eicosanoids. Special aspects of the PG transport system have been reviewed previously by Bito and associates, 1,5 and a general review of PG transport processes and their inhibition is in preparation. The following is intended to serve as a compendium of the relevant literature and to provide an overview of the accumulated findings.
