ABSTRACT

Research and development in the packing and logistics sector is very important. In departments of logistics, various types of automation of systems are required to avoid time wastage; such examples are the generation of models and drawing of wooden boxes, stuffing-plan generation and calculation of cubic footage. The main objective of this automation and standardization process is to automate all the processes, such as automatic model generation, automated stuffing plans, automatic costing calculation, and, eventually, the optimization of box design. It will also reduce the manufacturing lead time. Much of the inefficiency arises from nonstandard working systems such that effective utilization of time and money cannot be achieved. In the present study, an attempt is made to reduce nonproductive time during various packing and logistics processes through automation. This can be achieved by using various elements of standardized software such as Creo Parametric and VB.Net.
