ABSTRACT

Fly ash is generated as a by-product after the combustion of coal, and it is an environmental pollutant. An effective way to utilize fly ash is in the construction sector, after a rise in demand in housing corresponding to the increasing population. This increasing demand can be fulfilled by using automation in brick manufacturing. However, the existing automatic fly ash brick manufacturing machine cost is around 18–20 lakh rupees. In Gujarat, micro-small-medium brick porters are asking for machines costing below 10 lakh rupees. Hence an attempt is made to develop a low-cost fly ash brick manufacturing machine. This paper deals with the design and finite element analysis of the supporting structure, punch, de-mold punch, mold box, punch plate, and main frame support rectangular bar. The design and calculation of the conveying belt, feeder, and pan mixer are described. Here the machine is designed for three cavities per stroke to reduce cost.
