ABSTRACT
120In this chapter, the pattern of structural and functional development of the gastric mucosa will be reviewed. In addition, nutritional and hormonal regulation of gastric mucosal growth and function during the early stages of life will also be reviewed. Since most of the information on these topics has been gathered from experiments performed on rats and mice, only the results of these studies will be discussed.
