ABSTRACT

This paper describes the results of soil metal surveys in a contaminated and an uncontaminated catchment in Wales. Summary data are presented for the total concentrations of Pb, Zn, Cu, Cd, Co, Ni, Mn and Fe. The mean metal concentrations of each compartment are also given, together with Pb loadings. The data are discussed in terms of long-term pollution hazard and target compartments in the contaminated catchments and compared with the distributions of metals in the control catchment.
