ABSTRACT

The differences in the regional distribution of mortality from cancer, cardiovascular, respiratory and other diseases can be explained by the regional distribution of drinking water quality. This connection can be pointed out in a relatively small area only by multivariate methods such as canonical correlation analysis and cluster analysis. There are a lot of factors influencing mortality. These factors can modify the effect of each other so it can hardly be imagined that a relationship can be shown between only one of these factors and one of the rates referring to mortality. This chapter surveys the mortality of 43 villages in the Csongrfd country. Csongrfd country is a small area in the southern part of the Great Hungarian Plain. To evaluate the data individual correlation, multiple regression canonical correlation and cluster analysis were used. Multiple regression analyses were made for cancer, cardiovascular, respiratory and other mortality, respectively. The F test shows that even the multiple correlations are not significant.
