Malnutrition is one of the most frequent causes of mortality and a major health problem worldwide, in both developed and economically disadvantaged countries. In order to distinguish malnutrition related to disease from that associated with social causes, famine, or environmental catastrophes, the term disease-related malnutrition (DRM) has been established in the last few years [1].
