ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION Anatomic delineation of the lower face for our purposes encompasses the perioral region, chin, and jaw line, which is the area that includes the remainder of the supercial muscles of facial expression. One of those muscles is the sheet-like neck muscle, the platysma. Even though it originates in the mid to upper chest, most of its insertions are in the lower and mid face. e platysma functions as one of the essential mimetic muscles of the lower face, and therefore is included in this chapter.
