ABSTRACT

India’s quest for technology and its journey from “Aryabhatt to Mangalyaan” has moved the entire world’s focus towards it and today India is ranked amongst the major economies in the world. Use of technology within the government has given rise to the era of e-governance, which has the power to drive the nation with its transparent and citizen friendly approach. The National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) of the Government of India is responsible for initiating e-governance in India to benefit the vast population. Digital India, a shining project launched by the Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi, to boost e-governance by digitizing services. A number of schemes started under the campaign targeted to minimize the gap between the government and its people, which gained a huge civic as well as media support. It aims were to raise digital literacy and make people more tech friendly to achieve a Digital India. This campaign faced many challenges due to the diversified population but overall it has transformed India socially and economically, making Indians proud.
