ABSTRACT
e-Governance is related to the conservation of civil rights of all citizens and a uniformly significant aspect is focused on ensuring evenhanded access to the civil service and the assistance of economic growth to all. This chapter aims at responding to the budding demand for technological and consultative services by India in the area of e-government, with a specific focus on e-governance applications. The prime focus of the present study is on appraising the approach of e-governance in India toward societal upliftment. Various factors in terms of cost and benefits are analyzed to construct valuable feedback for the effective application of e-governance. Keeping these in view, the present research is conducted to identify and analyze the social cost, benefits, threats, and opportunities for e-governance in India.
