ABSTRACT

The approach for determining the subsurface settlement trough width parameter proposed by Mair et al (1993) extended to G4 material of the Bukit Timah Granite is described. The main objective of this paper is to illustrate the application of approach proposed by Mair et al (1993) to the G4 material of the Singapore Bukit Timah Granite. The general concept of the approach described by Mair et al., (1993) in determining the settlement trough width parameter K is also outlined. Preliminary findings based on limited data available to date showed some promising results. Effort to continually build up the database to further refine the deduced linear relationship for the subsurface settlement trough width parameter for the G4 material is still in progress.
