ABSTRACT

A new cable-stayed pedestrian bridge is being presented in this paper. The structure has an innovative design where tubular elements have been used to solve some specific structural and formal problems. Four aspects are mainly addressed in this paper: design, analysis construction and structural behaviour. Design is characterized by the presence of four ramps which meet at a certain point and which are connected to a single tower by means of stays. Structural problems are mainly connected to the design of the flow of forces and to its transmission to the foundations. The program of cable stressing is the main point of concern during construction. Finally structural behaviour of this footbridge in relation to wind as well as to dynamic forces is being described. All the structural problems related to tubular elements are emphasized along the paper.
