ABSTRACT

An outline of a new database for CHS tubular joints is described in this paper. The database consists of test and numerical analysis results for unstiffened CHS tubular joints. The data is classified into seven sets depending on joint configuration. The data contents include geometric parameters, material properties and capacities of joints observed in tests or analyses. The geometric parameters consist of diameters and thicknesses of chords and braces, angles between chords and braces, eccentricities between chord and brace axes and so on. Material parameters consist of yield stresses and ultimate tensile strengths. Test and numerical analysis results include those values of ultimate strength, joint deformation at ultimate strength, joint stiffness, yield strength, failure mode and so on, which could be confirmed from original reports.

The amount of data is for about 2300 joints at present. New data will be added to the database as soon as test / numerical analysis data are published. This database is stored on the software EXCEL in order to be used by other researchers, and can be distributed to other researchers using a computer network system.
