ABSTRACT

A new design of pipes is proposed for main gas and oil pipelines and for pipelines for liquefied gas transportation. These pipes differ from the known structures hardened by wire winding in that a special profile is used for their hardening. The dimensions of its cross-section, the material strength, the pitch of winding and tensioning force are determined depending on the operating parameters of the pipeline. Testing of pipe models of a new design at 293 and 77 K confirmed their advantage in creating highly reliable pipelines. Pipes of new design have lower metal consumption, ensure the arrest of longitudinal cracks that have initiated, are more resistant to cross bearing stresses, have an increased seismic stability and enable manufacturing of reliable main gas pipelines for operating pressure over 10 MPa without increasing the thickness of pipe steel sheets.
