ABSTRACT

The connection strength between the beam tension flange and RHS column is analysed by the yield line theory, classifying into three categories by the plastic strength ratio of the connection to beam flange. Composite beam -and- RHS column subassemblages whose connection strengths were classified into the three categories were tested. The joint strength of the subassemblages analysed by the yield line theory gives good correspondence with the test result. And the effect of the moment-local rotational angle of the joint on the stiffness and deformability of the subassemblage is discussed.
