ABSTRACT

The objective of this study is to investigate the behaviour of extended end-plate and T-stub bolted moment connections for square hollow section (SHS) column. The SHS column near the connection part is reinforced by four welded steel angles. For fabricating the connections in field, high strength one side bolts (blind bolts) which do not require access from inside the SHS column are used. The study includes tests of one side bolts under tensile load, simplified connection test subjected to direct tensile and compressive load, as well as full scale connection assembly tests.
