ABSTRACT
Partially overlapped square hollow section Warren joints consist of through’ and ‘overlapping* members and are unsymmetrical in their method of construction. The Finite Element Method is used to examine the effect of the reversal of brace axial forces, together with the significance of the presence or absence of the hidden weld on the behaviour and strength of a partial width joint at two angles of inclination. Comparisons are made with existing design recommendations.
