ABSTRACT
This paper provides an overview of additives which have been used in Chinese utility boilers for alleviating boiler slagging. A detailed study has been carried out by using X-ray diffraction techniques to examine the structure of slagging samples. Fusion, viscosity, sintering and electroconductive characteristics, as well as chemical corrosion properties of coals with additives have also been determined. The possible mechanism of additives is proposed. On the basis of the investigation results of industrial utilization of additives, specific recomnendation and guidelines are provided.
