ABSTRACT
Among other factors the decrease of slagging of the latest boilers is concerned with better knowledge of a coals deposition potential and with it more adequate use for boilers designing. For coals which slagging potential before has been studied insufficiently the investigations are carried out by UralVTI on full scaie boilers, at rig scale and under laboratory conditions. It is measured the temperature of the start of slagging, the deposit strenght, the ash sintering, viscosity - temperature relationship of a coal ash in liquid and supercooled state. For a tentative estimation of the deposition potential it have been developed by UralVTI a number of the indices of slagging, fouling and basic deposits. From familiar indices they are distinguished by using the summation with respect to the different indices, weight percent of the sulfur in the coal calculated on the ash basis, the acid to base ratio, the burning temperature.
