ABSTRACT
In Chapter 3 the most commonly used outer radiation boundary conditions (ORBC), known as first and second order Mur, were presented in a form suitable for application but without explanation or justification. In this chapter we present a short history of absorbing boundary conditions that have been used, explain the basis of the Mur absorbing boundary, and present some generalizations of it.
