ABSTRACT

The development of a generally applicable and verified theory designed to examine the running performance of any vehicle is a central aim of German wheel/rail research.

The theory is built up step-by-step, from the single wheelset through the bogie to the complete vehicle. Tests to verify the theory are conducted simultaneously on the roller rig in Munich and on real tracks.

The paper outlines the principles of the verification procedure as well as the roller rig and track results obtained so far.
