ABSTRACT

The incorporation of lipophilic components into water-based cosmetic formulations is an important requirement for the use of diverse active ingredients. Such formulations exist in a wide range of compositions with textural and physico-chemical properties and are of much more interest for cosmetic use than simple aqueous solutions. Any cosmetic product is ultimately applied to the human body, a delicate substrate. Aggressive or 238irritative interactions with the living organism cannot be tolerated. In fact, the two primary purposes of cosmetic formulations, skin care and decoration, must always provide physiological benefits and create the image of well-being.
