ABSTRACT
This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the proceeding chapters of this book. The book presents the status of the field of superconductivity. It summarizes and integrating the material as well as of presenting the basic information, and perhaps one of the most valuable services. The book summarizes one of the unifying principles which run through superconductivity from Bardeen–Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) to the latest wrinkle, the vital role of time-reversal invariant pairing and the contrast between pair-breaking and pair-conserving perturbations. It reviews the concepts behind flux quantization and the Landau–Ginzburg theory very ably. On the Russian side, Ginzburg–Landau was a guiding principle for a much deeper understanding of intermediate state phenomena, the internal states of superconductors and their phenomenology, than was then realized in the West. Superconductivity has had a remarkably exciting past, and will have an equally exciting future.
