ABSTRACT

PureBright pulsed light uses powerful, short duration flashes of broad spectrum white light to kill all exposed microorganisms. A new sterilization method, which carries the tradename PureBright, has been developed by PurePulse Technologies, Inc. in San Diego, CA. The method uses high power pulses of light for sterilization in situations where light can access all of the important surfaces and volume of the product or material. The PureBright pulsed light method of sterilization uses very brief, intense pulses, or flashes, of broad spectrum white light to sterilize packaging, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, parenterals, water, and air. The PureBright on-line automated treatment system has three components: A sterilization tunnel with an integrated conveyor system for receiving and treating containers directly from a Blow/fill/seal production machine; a pulser module that operates and controls sterilization tunnel treatment; a validation module and data logger for verifying and recording the treatment parameters for every flash.
