      ABSTRACT

How to prediction the ground movement in constructing soft-soil tunnel is still a difficult problem. In this paper, a new mathematics method developed from the stochastic theory is advanced to predict the settlement of shield tunnelling in soft soil ground and further to direct the construction. Some practical equations of predicting the longitudinal settlements in shield tunnelling are derived. Comparison between prediction and observation settlements in Shanghai Metro No.2 Line is also carried out.
