ABSTRACT
An extensive centrifuge model test program has been carried out to examine the behaviour of piles under complicated situations that include behaviour of large pile groups in clay, performance of pile due to excavation-induced soil movement and vertical load carrying capacity of inclined piles. It is established that centrifuge modelling technique can be a useful tool to better understand the pile behaviour under such complicated situations. The practical implications of the findings are also highlighted in this paper.
