ABSTRACT

This paper presents an analytical treatment of the axi-symmetric response of a multilayered and poroelastic media with fluid-saturated and compressible constituents. Techniques of Laplace and then Hankel transforms with respect to the time and radial coordinates are applied to the governing equations respectively, the transfer matrix is obtained from the solution of the transformed equations. With the transfer matrix and by applying inverse Hankel and Laplace transforms, solutions for the layered media are found without much computational efforts. Examples are presented to assess the accuracy of the present method, to analyze the effect of the basic material parameters on consolidation and to portray the features of consolidation process in media composed of several layers of different poroelastic material due to axi-symmetric load.
