ABSTRACT

Some figures of landslides have been categorized on the basis of accumulated data. These have been utilized as a primary step to classify types of landslides and to determine a scale of counterparts. However, these classifications of landslides aren’t taken into account as a whole by soil mechanics. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to propose a new simplified method to predict landslides behavior. The fundamental idea of this method depends on an arch action effect. Furthermore, the application of a conclusion derived from this idea is shown to be useful for designing groups of piles as a countermeasure.
