ABSTRACT

Seismic design code provisions for structural irregularity are arbitrary, inconsistent and hard to follow. An alternative approach which uses readily available methods of analysis is proposed. The method has the advantages of simplicity and of involving the design engineer in realistic considerations of structural behaviour.
