ABSTRACT
The present paper describes the interactions between soil, tunnel boring machine (TBM) and lining, during excavation with a closed mode TBM. It analyses the reasons why classical computation methods are not adapted to this type of works. It describes the explicit calculation method developed by the authors and the way it is used within a global settlement control procedure, from preliminary design to in-situ monitoring.
