ABSTRACT

This paper presents finite element analyses performed to assess the effects of the proposed construction of the Crossrail Moorgate station on the adjoining 26-storey Moor House office development. Construction of the station involves an excavation of a deep box, approximately 40 m below ground level. Full three-dimensional analyses are compared to equivalent two-dimensional plane strain and axi-symmetric analyses. The assessment of wall movements, surface settlements behind the wall and structural forces in the wall is presented.
