ABSTRACT

It was the aim of authors of the submitted article to inform the professional public of the specifics of construction of a one nave station in Prague subway with a 220,0 m cross profile of the cut. As will be further on obvious from the content, even in such familiar, although very complicated geological conditions of capital of the Czech Republic, a surprise could occur. Instead of estimated very faulted quartzites according to on a geological exploration, construction of the station proceeded from almost 70% within for tunneling favourable shales. However, unpleasant is the occurrence of groundwater in close overburden, which complicates the use of longer anchors in the arch’s area. After consideration of all possibilities, a certain modification of the vertical and horizontal segmentation was designed, and thus with limited anchoring in the calotte’s area, which, contrary to expectations, uses improved quality of the rocky massif. Measurement results so far entitle the designer as well the contractors to use the suggested method of solution.
