ABSTRACT
In 1992, COFIROUTE proposed to the French state an innovative solution to construct the last ten kilometers of the A86 highway around Paris. This original underground link-up consists of two completely bored tunnels: one reserved for light vehicles, the other open to light vehicles and lorries. Work on the tunnel reserved for light vehicle is currently underway. The design of this tunnel is completely specific and based on two superimposed levels in a unique tube. This design combined with innovative operating principles and equipments is the guarantee of a very high safety level.
