ABSTRACT

The Atlantic Avenue Station Complex in Brooklyn comprises three New York City Transit (NYCT) subway stations and the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) Flatbush Avenue terminal. The Atlantic Avenue Station on the IRT Line is undergoing a major structural rehabilitation. This paper addresses underpinning methods and procedures, and the construction of new passageway sections and a new lower-level concourse under operating tracks without interrupting transit or station operations and minimally impacting street traffic.
