ABSTRACT

The experience gained in roller compacted concrete dams in the river Ebro Catchment Area (Spain) has involved up to now the Rialb, Val and Urdalur dams. Aggregates in the cases of Urdalur and Val came from limestone quarries whilst in Rialb, they were rounded alluvial river aggregates. The binder in Urdalur was specially made for the dam whilst in Rialb and Val, the mix was made in on-site facilities. Proportioning was established after numerous analyses and their comparison in several test slabs.
